Orlando, Florida is a hot spot for independent films. One of the latest films to utilize the beautiful location, was the independent film “Renee.” The film deals with a common problem amongst teens and young adults- self-cutting. However, that is not the only thing covered in the film. In the film, the main character, Renee Yohe, battles her inner demons with drug addiction and alcohol. It depicts her struggle as she tries to sober up herself. The film is based on a true story. One of the producers actually allowed Renee to stay at his home while she was trying to sober up before she entered rehab. The cast is full of young Hollywood stars that were seen around Downtown Orlando. Kat Dennings, who played Darcy Lewis in “Thor,” plays the lead role as Renee Yohe. Chad Michael Murray, star of “One Tree Hill,” plays the male counterpart Jamie Tworkowski. His role is especially important to the film because he was the original writer of Renee’s story, which he posted on Myspace at the time. It inspired hundreds of teens. Rapper and singer Travie McCoy will also have a role in the film. Rupert Friend, from “The Young Victoria,” will also be in the film as David McKenna- the producer that lent out his home to Renee. Director Nathan Frankowski and newcomer Kate Lynch direct from a script that Frankowski helped to compose with Lynch. It was the script that helped to attract these young stars to the cast. The film has no release date as of yet, but that doesn’t mean that the turn out for it when it does hit the silver screen won’t be huge. This is just one of the many independent films that have used the beautiful landscape of Florida as its backdrop for their stories.Related Article : Justified’s Nick Searcy Joins David Yohe’s Metamorphosis
