2007 PENSACOLA FILM FESTIVAL TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIP
The Pensacola International Film Festival will be awarding the Sara Fuller Scholarship to a deserving University of West Florida student at the free public screenings in Plaza Ferdinand on Saturday, Oct. 27. The University of West Florida will select the recipient from the school of fine arts and the awards ceremony will take place before the public screenings at 7:30 p.m.
The Pensacola Film Festival administers the Sara Fuller Scholarship on behalf of Film Florida, a non-profit advocacy group that promotes filming in the state of Florida. The Fuller scholarship money is then matched by the Pensacola Film Festival and then matched again by the University of West Florida. As in 2006, the total scholarship award will be $2,000.
Last year’s winner was Heath Carroll, an acting student in UWF’s Department of Theater. On receiving his scholarship, Mr. Carroll said, “It has been greatly appreciated as well as immensely beneficial. I honestly don’t know if I could have continued my education without the extra increase in scholarship. I could not express my gratitude enough. With the increase in money I have been able to increase my workload in class hours.”
